On Thursday September 23rd at 7 pm there will be a Virtual Film Screening: “Votes for Women, The History of Women’s Suffrage Through Song” in collaboration with the Jesup Memorial Library.

Join filmmaker Barbara Cray for a screening of a film which captures the suffrage movement’s heroic efforts to achieve the right to vote. In the film, historical accounts of the movement are illustrated with archival photographs and video and are interspersed with rousing songs performed by Portland, Maine-based chorus Women in Harmony.

The historical segments of the film are narrated by Nancy Giles, a contributor to CBS Sunday Morning. The film project began when Cray created video segments (some narrated by Maine dignitaries) with archival images about the suffrage movement that was featured during a January 2020 concert by Women in Harmony. To register for the Zoom link for this program fill out the form here or email Kayla.
