Tuesday November 23rd
Thanksgiving Pie Sale

Thanksgiving Pie Sale Tuesday, November 23rd, from 10 am until sold out.  Serve your Thanksgiving guests with scrumptious holiday pies, home-made by talented YWCA MDI volunteers!

Pie Makers:
Pies can be delivered to the YWCA’s front entrance between 9 am – 5 pm on Monday, November 22rd and on Tuesday, November 23th in the morning. If you drop off prior to 9 am pies can be left on the cart in the front foyer.
Pie boxes and tins will be left in the foyer in case you need them. Please do not hesitate to get in touch and thank you very much for your support. Call 288-5008 for more information.

Luminaria Evening

The 20th Annual Carol Dyer Memorial Luminaria evening for honoring loved ones who are struggling with or have passed away from cancer will take place on the Bar Harbor Village Green. (rain date Saturday, August 21st -7pm-9:30pm). Proceeds from the event will be donated to Island Connections.  Suggested donation of $10 per luminaria. Order luminaria here.

YPie Homemade Pie Sales

YPie is Back!  Delicious homemade sweet or savory pies to benefit the YWCA MDI will be on sale beginning Tuesday, June 29th and every Tuesday until September 7th!  The sale will be from 10am until pies are gone.  Look for our table outside the YWCA at 36 Mount Desert Street, Bar Harbor.

Rummage Sale

Lots of great items!. The sale will be indoors in the front lobby and Chambers Room. Rain or Shine! Masks are required for all attending the sale. Proceeds from the sale will support scholarships to both high school students going to college and less traditional educational opportunities for adults.

Small-Dollar Donor Campaign

The YWCA Mount Desert Island will be launching a Small-Dollar Donor this month.  Donations given to the General Fund will be matched up to $1,500 by the Witham Family Hotels Charitable Fund. The YWCA MDI has set a goal of $1,500 so that our campaign with matching gifts could raise $3,000 for the organization.  Learn more.

Zoom Presentation by Angela Okafor

Angela is a Nigerian-born immigrant and attorney.  Unable to be employed as an attorney in the U.S., she worked as a dishwasher until receiving her credentials.  Currently, Angela owns an immigration law practice, an international market, and a hair care business in Bangor, Maine.  She is the first immigrant and the first woman of color to serve on the Bangor City Council.  Her experiences and varied entrepreneurial ventures make her uniquely qualified to speak about “Purposeful Diversity, Equity and Inclusion; Our Ticket to Economic Growth and Stability”. If you would like to attend this presentation, email jackie@ywcamdi.org to receive an invitation containing the link.

YWCA of Mount Desert Island 117th Annual Meeting

Zoom in and hear about what we were doing last year, through the challenges of Covid-19, and how we adapted some of our outreach programs to support the community.  The meeting will begin at 10:00 a.m. on April 24th.  Email jackie@ywcamdi.org to receive an invitation containing the link.

Treat Mom and YWCA MDI, too!

On Mother’s Day, May 9th, Galyn’s will donate the purchase price on all desserts sold to support safe and affordable accommodations for women. Galyn’s will be open 11am-9pm. Reservations are recommended. Call 207-288-9706.

Monday, Tuesday, Friday 9:30am

Join Cas for a morning workout! You can attend either in person or on ZOOM. Classes will begin Wednesday, June 2 and will be offered Monday, Wednesday and Friday with a yearly membership to the YWCA. Contact Abby at abby@ywcamdi.org to sign up and get the ZOOM link. Masks will be required inside the YWCA.
Line Dancing

Tuesday’s 11am-12pm

Line Dancing with Sheri will be offered on Tuesday’s from 11am to12pm. Easy to learn, great workout and lots of FUN! The class is open to men and women on a drop-in basis. Fee is $5.00 per class. Get ready to have a great time! Masks are required inside the YWCA.
