Hamilton Station
YWCA MDI’s attainable rental housing project on Mount Desert Island
YWCA MDI has been in the lodging business since 1904.
Our flagship program, and one that we carry on today, offers safe, affordable lodging for women and girls. Today, we're expanding that legacy — building attainable housing for the “missing middle” working people and families across MDI.
Hamilton Station is part
of the solution.
Hamilton Station spans 27 acres of classic rural Maine landscape in Bar Harbor, home to two historic barns and a small, historic cemetery. YWCA MDI has partnered with Flying Mountain Developers on this project and both organizations are excited to bring much-needed housing to the working class people who have been priced out of Mount Desert Island.
Community and town feedback have shaped our approach from the start. We're committed to keeping the unit count modest and honoring the land and the neighbors who already call this area home. We're also designing with long-term affordability in mind and exploring tenant-friendly policies that make it possible for working families to put down roots and make this place home.
